  1. GREG: WHEN SINGAPORE DECIDED TO UP-DATE THE CITY, THEY TORE DOWN THE HUGE SECTION OF HAWKER STALLS THAT WERE IN THE CENTRE OF THE CITY AND THE ONE YOU’RE IN LOOKS LIKE ONE OF THE REPLACEMENTS THAT HAS A CEILING. I LOVE EATING AT THE HAWKER STALLS. I HOPE YOU HAVE EATEN ONE OF THE HUGE SHRIMPS ON A STICK! WE WOULD SELECT A TABLE AND THEN GO AROUND CHOOSING OUR FOOD. NEVER COULD FIGURE OUT HOW THE HAWKERS WERE ABLE TO FIND OUR TABLE IN THAT HUGE HUGE OPEN AREA, BUT THEY DID. BY THE WAY, SINGAPORE BEER IS WONDERFUL.

AT THE SAME TIME THE GOVERNMENT TORE DOWN MANY OF THE OLD ONE STORY BLDGS IN VARIOUS ETHNIC NEIGHBOURHOODS, WHICH WOULD HAVE A SHOP ON STREET LEVEL AND LIVING QUARTERS UPSTAIRS. THEY LEFT A FEW JUST FOR TOURISTS TO SEE.

HAVE YOU FOUND THE SINGAPORE LION YET? IT’S BY THE HARBOUR. SINGAPORE IS TRYING TO BE THE FINANCIAL CENTRE TO REPLACE HKG. THEY HAVE BEEN VERY LARGE AS A PORT FACILITY. BUT YOU KNOW ALL OF THAT!
